The course supports the development of firm foundations for the practical provision of pastoral care and is suitable for individuals who are new to pastoral care and those with prior experience who wish to affirm their own understanding of this ministry or have not had the opportunity to attend a pastoral care training course before.

The course considers:

  • the breadth of pastoral care
  • what makes a good pastoral carer
  • the complexities of pastoral care
  • effective listening
  • wellbeing in pastoral care (including caring for ourselves and boundaries)
  • practising safely (including confidentiality and reflecting on our actions).

The course is led by experienced ACC trainers who will guide you through interactive teaching and facilitate activities that give practical experience of core pastoral care skills. This will give a safe space to share experiences, be inspired by others and grow in your God-given ministry, supported by scripture, prayer and personal reflection.

A Participant Workbook is provided.
